Lingg Prior to her passing in 1981, Mrs. Rice established this foundation, a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to award grants to worthy charitable programs that assist the needy and the elderly. The trustees consider the following as essential objectives for grant consideration: Basic necessities and human needs for the poor and elderly Preference for meeting the immediate needs of the poor Innovative approaches The foundation will not consider grants for building or endowment programs, direct gifts to individuals, or capital fund drives. Specific geographic areas of interest are Lorain, Ohio where Helen was born and raised, and the greater Cincinnati area where she lived most of her life.
